Executive Head Shots and Environmental Portraiture

Head Shots are probably the most widely used form of image, and are generally of a formal nature, but not always. Bankers, Lawyers and Realtors usually fall in the more conservative formal group, while artists, media, performers and creative types usually are less formal, more funky or edgy. Most companies already have an established "look" that their executives and associates may need to conform with, and a professional photographer should be able to match whatever your current look is. If however you are looking to change the overall image, or add depth to the existing look, Environmental Portraiture is a great alternative.

An environmental portrait will depict the subject in their professional setting. The subject should be the focus of the image, but their surroundings should offer information about them: their work habits, their style, their accomplishments, and their ethics. A beautifully done portrait will have the viewer busy for a while, and leave them with interest in knowing more. An environmental portrait does take more time than a head shot, but is a great way to communicate with your potential customers. Ideally you should have both styles.
